พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2506 ใบอนุญาตเลขที่ ค. 99/2507 ต่อมาได้ยื่นขอจดทะเบียนนิติบุคคลตามประมวลกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ต่อกรมตำรวจ เมื่อวันที่ 3 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2507 เป็นนิติบุคคลเลขที่ จ. 843 เมื่อวันที่ 10 พฤศจิกายน 2507 จากกองบังคับการตำรวจสันติบาล และได้รับการกำหนดให้เป็นองค์การไม่แสวงหาผลกำไรตามประมวลรัษฎากร ลำดับที่ 555 เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2547<br /> <br /> <br /> นับแต่ก่อตั้งได้เข้าเป็นสมาชิกของ IARU แต่ยังมิได้จดทะเบียนอย่างเป็นทางการ เนื่องจากประเทศไทยยังไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้มีกิจการวิทยุสมัครเล่นอย่างถูกต้องตามกฎหมาย พนักงานวิทยุยังมิได้มีการสอบเพื่อรับประกาศนียบัตรพนักงานวิทยุสมัครเล่นอย่างถูกต้องในประเทศไทย<br /> <br /> <br /> มีการพบปะสังสรรค์กันทุกสัปดาห์ที่โรงแรมโอเรียลเต็ล ในนามชื่อย่อ RAST มีจำนวนสมาชิกทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างประเทศมาร่วมเป็นจำนวนมาก แต่ก็ยังมิได้รับการรับรองจากหน่วยงานของทางราชการ เนื่องจากขณะนั้นประเทศไทยกำลังอยุ่ในสภาวะฉุกเฉินของสงครามเวียดนาม และการก่อการร้ายในประเทศไทย แต่การดำเนินงานของสมาคมคงเป็นไปอย่างปกติ ได้ย้ายสถานที่ประชุมจากโรงแรมโอเรียลเต็ลมาเป็นโรงแรม เอราวัณซึ่งเป็นโรงแรมของรัฐบาล ดำเนินการโดย พล.ท.เฉลิมชัย จารุวัตร ซึ่งรู้จักคุ้นเคยกับ พ.อ.กำชัย
